Dear Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know about our upcoming weekend events.  We have a Women's Journey's weekend coming up on October 16-18, 2009 at Camp Tekoa.  Lay Director for this Journey is Vickie Wilson.  On November 13-15, 2009 we have a young lady's Chrysalis Flight at Camp Tekoa and the Lay Director is Betty Fisher.  On January 16-18th, 2010 we will hold another Women's Journey and Hadley McCutcheon is the Lay Director.  On March 26-28, 2010 we will hold a young men's Chrysalis Flight and the Lay Director is Sean Geise.  Chrysalis Flights are for High School Sophomores - Senior, Ages 15-18 and Chrysalis Journey's are for Ages 18-26.  We would love to see all of the Chrysalis Flights and Journey's full.  Please be in prayer about who you can sponsor and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at melisa.coates@gmail.com

Mountain Ridge Chrysalis is blessed by so many wonderful volunteers!  I want to say thank you to all of our board members both past and present and our community for all of your prayers, hard work and dedication.  God has big plans for Mountain Ridge Chrysalis and I am excited to see what HE is going to do!  What a blessing to be surrounded with such a great cloud of witnesses as there are in this community.

Flying With Christ,      Melisa Coates

Ever wonder how volunteers are derived for Teams?  We have a database that is maintained by Mack Salley and utilized by Team Selection.  He uses a form called the Blue Ridge Emmaus - Database Update.  It is available for printing by Clicking Here  If you haven't done one lately, grab take a moment to print one and complete it now!

Drop it in the box or mail it to Mack.  Instructions are on the form.

Something to do on your 4th day!!!

Marion Correction Center (MCI)is an 806 male inmate maximum-security custody level prison.

On August 29, the Kairos team met for the preparation for Kairos MCI #3. We are short of members, particularly clergy!!! We are in need of people for the inside team (male only) and team supporters (both men and women) who staff the Agape and kitchen teams. The church within the prisons is growing among the 41,069 inmates in North Carolina State prisons (excluding the jails). Avery/Mitchell Correctional Institution, an 856 medium security custody level has knocked on our door for a Kairos program.  What can we tell them? We know that "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few.  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38 KJV) Again, these words are spoken by no one else than the One we claim to adore. Will you accept Jesus' invitation to work in His field? For further information, please contact Scottie Parrish at scottparrish3@gmail.com (828) 891-2006 ext.120 or John and Alie Klees 56john44@charter.net (828) 667-0580.

AGAPE

INFORMATION

Start planning early for our agape goodies. If each reunion group would make 1 or 2 items,

we would have a good amount of agape. Individuals are also encouraged to make agape. Just a reminder, that things should not be signed except for a reunion group name. Rule of thumb for amounts: 70 for table and 40 for pillow agape. Then maybe one or two extra if something gets lost or broken. If you need ideas, please feel free to contact me. Lori Freeman; (828) 890-4220 or lawfreeman@aol.com

Also, it would be helpful if you could let me know what your group is making so we don't double up on treats.

PERSONAL AGAPE: If you wish to give your pilgrim any personal agape, please do so on the ride home AFTER leaving YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly.

Q:  What can I do This Weekend?

A:  Come and Serve!

Please note that you do not have to have a pilgrim on the Walk to participate in any of these Community wide activities throughout the weekend.  All members of the Emmaus Community are encouraged to attend send-off, sponsor's hour, candlelight, closing & follow-up. You are also encouraged to work in the dining room, lift up prayers in the prayer chapel, place your name on the prayer banner & pray up the Walk.  Always remember the need for baked goods, snack foods and drinks.  You may not have a pilgrim on this Walk, but the Pilgrims and Team still need the support of the Blue Ridge Emmaus Community in all facets of the weekend.

We have returned to cooking the meals ourselves!

We always need help in the Kitchen and Dining Room!  So please come out and help prepare and serve the meals.

Note: We love for you to stay and eat with us and even clean up afterwards.  With food costs rising at such exorbitant rates over the last 12 months, we've had to raise our meal price to all. As a result, we ask those sharing the meal with us to contribute Kitchen agape $4.00 per meal.  Thanks for your contribution!

Prayer Vigil

Current and previous sponsors, all Emmaus pilgrims from past walks, please sign up for the Prayer Vigil by CLICKING HERE and don't forget to print a reminder!  If you do not have internet access, please call me at 828.628.1683.  If you know someone who does not have internet, but would like to pray, please put them on the list, or have them call me.

If you have never been on the prayer vigil it is another one of those agape gifts that rewards you even more than the pilgrims.  You can pray at home, at Blue Ridge Assembly in the prayer chapel, or where ever you may find yourself at your chosen time.
Current sponsors, it is one of your responsibilities to pray during the weekend. Your pilgrim will look for your name and be blessed to know you were praying.
